Kåfjorden

description Kåfjorden Overview

Kåfjorden is a fjord in Alta Municipality in Finnmark, northern Norway, and an arm of Altafjorden. The settlement of Kåfjord lies at its head. The area is associated with historic copper mining: Kåfjord Copper Works operated from 1826 to 1878 and again from the 1890s until 1909. The mining industry brought workers and industrial infrastructure to the fjord, including mines, smelting facilities, and transport works.
