Karen Gleason is an American chemical engineer and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is known for her foundational research in the field of materials science, specifically pioneering the technique of chemically vapor deposited (CVD) polymers. Her work has enabled the creation of ultrathin, conformal polymer films for applications in flexible electronics and waterproof coatings. In recognition of her contributions, she was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2015.
