The Kaweco Special is a premium, compact mechanical pencil made from solid aluminum. It features a retractable tip that protects the lead sleeve, making it ideal for pockets. The hexagonal body is comfortable to grip and prevents rolling. It uses a push-click mechanism and is available in 0.5mm and 0.7mm. The Special is one of the few high-end pencils with a retractable tip in a small form factor (only 12cm when closed). It feels exceptionally well-engineered, though the tiny eraser is almost useless. At around $30$40, it's a niche but excellent choice for minimalists.
