Keshet Cave (Arch Cave)

description Keshet Cave (Arch Cave) Overview

Keshet Cave is a collapsed limestone karst formation located in the Galilee region of northern Israel. It forms a massive natural arch that spans the Betzet River canyon, representing one of the largest natural arches in the Middle East. The structure consists of an overhanging rock shelf that provides views of the surrounding Mediterranean landscape. It is a popular hiking destination accessible via trails maintained by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.

help Keshet Cave (Arch Cave) FAQ

Why is Keshet Cave an arch rather than a cave?

It was once a more enclosed limestone cave, but most of its roof and interior collapsed through erosion and geological processes. The surviving section forms the enormous stone arch that gives Keshet, the Hebrew word for bow or rainbow, its name.

Can families reach the Keshet Cave viewpoint?

A short accessible path in Adamit Park leads from the main parking area to the guarded viewpoint in about ten minutes. The route is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, but children must remain behind the safety railing near the drop.

Can you rappel from Keshet Cave?

The arch is a well-known rappelling site with a descent of roughly 30 meters. Rappelling requires authorized guides, suitable equipment, and compliance with current Israel Nature and Parks Authority restrictions.

What can you see from Keshet Cave?

The viewpoint overlooks the Betzet Stream canyon and the forested Western Galilee. In clear weather, views extend toward the Mediterranean, Haifa Bay, the Carmel ridge, and the nearby Lebanese border region.
