Mswati III (born 1968) has reigned over the southern African kingdom of Eswatini since being crowned in 1986 at age 18, then one of the world's youngest monarchs. He governs as an absolute monarch of the House of Dlamini, making him Africa's last remaining absolute ruler. In 2018 he announced the country's renaming from Swaziland to Eswatini, marking 50 years of independence from Britain, achieved in 1968.
