King Shaka

description King Shaka Overview

Shaka was king of the Zulu from about 1816 until his assassination in 1828 and played a central role in expanding a small chiefdom into a powerful kingdom in southeastern Africa. His forces used disciplined age-based regiments and encircling tactics commonly described as the horns of the buffalo formation. Accounts of his reign combine oral traditions with later written sources, so some claims about his personal innovations and conduct remain debated by historians.
