Kittens Game

Kittens Game was originally developed as a browser-based incremental title and can still be played for free on its official website. Developer bloodrizer later released a standalone paid version on Steam for players wanting offline progress and updated UI. The Steam version also includes achievements and smoother performance.

In Kittens Game, players should initially focus entirely on gathering catnip by sending their kittens to the forest. Catnip is the foundational resource required to build your first lodgings, assign new jobs, and survive the upcoming winters. Without a massive stockpile of catnip, your feline civilization will quickly starve.

To unlock iron, players must accumulate enough science to research Mining, and then construct a Mine building. Once the mine is operational, you can assign kittens to act as miners to extract minerals and coal. Combining these resources in a Workshop will finally allow you to smelt iron plates.

The prestige system in Kittens Game is known as the Void, where players construct Metaphysics buildings like the Black Nexus to gather Time Crystals. Resetting the game through this system grants Paragon points, which permanently boost resource output and caps in future playthroughs. It requires reaching an extremely high year count to trigger.
