The Kongur Massif is a heavily glaciated mountain group in Xinjiang, western China, near the western edge of the Tarim Basin and the Karakoram Highway. It contains Kongur Tagh, whose elevation is commonly given as 7,649 metres and which is generally identified as the highest summit of the Pamirs. The massif's steep relief, extensive ice, and difficult approaches make it primarily relevant to geographers and experienced high-altitude mountaineers.
