After Telecinco canceled "Aqui no hay quien viva," the creators moved to a new network and created a new show with the same comedic style. Many actors from the previous show were cast in entirely new roles.

The show originally aired on the Spanish television networks Telecinco and later Mediaset España. In Spain, past episodes are frequently aired on the Neox channel and are available on Mediaset's streaming platform, Mitele. The series has a massive domestic following, making it a staple of Spanish television.

The show is one of the longest-running sitcoms in Spanish history, debuting in 2007 and producing over a dozen seasons on traditional television. After network broadcasts slowed down, the creators successfully launched a crowdfunding campaign to produce a 12th season independently.
