LaFosse's Dove

The Dove was designed by American origami artist Michael G. LaFosse. LaFosse co-founded Origamido Studio with Richard L. Alexander and is especially known for expressive animal and bird models.

Wet-folding allows suitable paper to retain gentle curves in the breast, wings, and neck instead of showing only sharp geometric creases. LaFosse frequently uses this sculptural approach with handmade papers.

Strong, moderately thick washi or another wet-folding paper can produce smooth volume without collapsing when lightly dampened. Origamido papers are particularly associated with LaFosse's display-quality animal models.

It combines a recognizable dove silhouette with restrained, elegant shaping rather than exhaustive feather detail. White paper emphasizes its familiar symbolism, while subtle curves make it read as a living bird.
