Lee Pederson

The Linguistic Atlas of the Gulf States, directed by Lee Pederson, is a comprehensive survey of Southern American English dialects. It is considered a foundational work in the field of American regional dialectology.

Lee Pederson was an American linguist who conducted his major dialectological work at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Much of the fieldwork for the Linguistic Atlas of the Gulf States was conducted under his direction from that institution.
