Leiagnostus

description Leiagnostus Overview

Leiagnostus is an extinct genus of agnostid trilobites in the family Agnostidae, established by Otto Jaekel in 1909. It is known from late Cambrian and Ordovician strata, including records from Baltoscandia, central Europe, China, Kazakhstan, and Argentina. The genus is highly effaced: facial sutures and eyes are absent or not expressed, the cephalon is smooth, and the pygidium has weakly defined axial segmentation; its species have been used in Cambrian-Ordovician correlation.
