Leonardo de Funbird

Leonardo de Funbird is a wooden marionette from the BBC children's series The Woodentops. He appeared alongside the puppet family that introduced the series to British audiences from 1955.

The Woodentops was a BBC children's puppet series centered on a family of wooden characters. Leonardo de Funbird belongs to that same television world rather than being a modern standalone toy character.

He is described as a wooden marionette, meaning the figure is controlled by strings from above. That construction differs from a hand puppet, which is operated from inside the figure.

The Woodentops began entertaining British audiences in 1955, and Leonardo de Funbird is associated with that series. The character is therefore tied to the early era of BBC children's puppet television.
