Leonetti Cellar

Leonetti Cellar was founded in 1977 by Gary Figgins, making it the very first commercial winery in the Walla Walla Valley. Figgins was inspired by his Italian heritage and early experiments with home winemaking using local grapes. His focus on traditional Bordeaux varieties helped establish Washington State as a world-class wine region.

Leonetti Cellar achieved its legendary reputation primarily through its exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. These Bordeaux-style reds consistently garnered high praise from critics and were considered the gold standard for Washington State wine throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Their intense fruit structure and ability to age gracefully set the benchmark for the entire Walla Walla region.

While the winery itself is located in Walla Walla, Leonetti Cellar sources its grapes from some of the most prestigious vineyards in Washington State. This includes their estate-owned Seven Hills Vineyard, as well as the historic Pepper Bridge Vineyard. These sites are located in the distinct volcanic and loess soils of the region, which provide the perfect drainage for premium Cabernet Sauvignon.

Today, Leonetti Cellar is run by Gary Figgins' daughter, Amy Figgins, and nephew, Chris Figgins. Chris took over as winemaker and general manager, continuing the family's deep commitment to producing premium Walla Walla Valley wines. Under their guidance, the winery has expanded its portfolio to include highly regarded Sangiovese while maintaining its focus on elite Cabernet Sauvignon.
