Lepista flaccida

description Lepista flaccida Overview

Lepista flaccida, often treated as Paralepista flaccida, is a saprotrophic gilled fungus known as the tawny funnel cap. Its smooth cap is ochre to orange-brown and becomes broadly funnel-shaped, while the pale crowded gills run down the stem and the stem often has a white-felted base. It grows among leaf litter, needles and humus in deciduous and coniferous woodland; some field guides describe it as edible, but it can be confused with toxic funnel fungi.
