Levi's Type II Trucker Jacket

The Type II trucker jacket evolved from Levi's earlier denim work jacket designs in the mid-20th century, succeeding the single-chest-pocket Type I. It features two chest pockets with button flaps and a boxier fit compared to the later, more tailored Type III.

The Type II is characterized by its two chest pockets with button flaps, a raw-edge collar, and a relatively boxy, shorter cut. It lacks the waist adjuster tabs found on the later Type III, giving it a distinct silhouette.

The Type III, introduced around 1962 (model 70505), has a more tailored, slim fit with two slanted chest pockets and waist adjuster tabs. The Type II has a looser, boxier cut with straight pocket flaps and no waist adjusters.

Original mid-century Type II jackets, particularly those with Big E red tabs and selvedge construction, are sought after by vintage denim collectors. Depending on condition and rarity, they can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars through specialist dealers and auction platforms.
