It is about local business listings, even though those listings may sometimes create discoverable links to a website. The primary issue is citation accuracy and local visibility, not the same backlink analysis performed by tools such as Ahrefs.

Start with Google Business Profile, Yelp, Apple Maps, Bing Places, and the most relevant industry directory for the business. These named platforms cover search, maps, and local discovery rather than relying on a large number of low value directories.

Confirm which listing has the correct business identity, then claim, merge, suppress, or request removal of the duplicate through the relevant directory. Do not create another profile before checking the existing Google or Yelp records, because duplicates can make location data less trustworthy.
