Logitech advertises the G305 LIGHTSPEED as achieving up to 250 hours of continuous gaming use on a single AA battery in performance mode. In an extended endurance mode (lower polling rate), the battery life can reportedly last for months depending on usage patterns. This is a key selling point of the mouse, as it eliminates the need for a charging dock or cable.

The G305 LIGHTSPEED is designed for competitive gaming, particularly FPS titles, thanks to its lightweight design, precise HERO sensor, and low-latency LIGHTSPEED wireless technology. Logitech's LIGHTSPEED wireless protocol was engineered to provide a 1ms report rate, matching the responsiveness of many wired gaming mice. The Logitech G305 is a fully wireless gaming mouse that connects to a computer via a small USB receiver using Logitech's LIGHTSPEED 2.4GHz wireless technology. It does not have a charging cable built in; instead, it is powered by a single replaceable AA battery housed inside the mouse. The USB dongle can also be stored inside the mouse body for transport.
