Malo maxima

Malo maxima is a box jellyfish in the family Carukiidae, commonly grouped with the Irukandji jellyfish. It is found in northern Australian waters and is associated with severe envenomation.

Malo maxima is large compared with many other Irukandji species, but its bell is still only around 5 centimetres across in reported descriptions. The name giant refers to its relative size within the group, not to the size of a large Chironex box jellyfish.
