Mannar Lagoon is a shallow coastal lagoon in northwestern Sri Lanka, associated with Mannar Island and the Gulf of Mannar. Its mudflats, seagrass beds, and adjacent coastal waters support marine species including dugongs and sea turtles, as well as resident and migratory birds. The surrounding region is also historically associated with pearl fishing and continues to support fishing communities and other coastal livelihoods.
