Marcel Desailly is a retired French footballer born in Accra, Ghana, who played as a centre-back or defensive midfielder. He earned 116 caps for France between 1993 and 2004 and was a member of the teams that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000. At club level he won the UEFA Champions League with Marseille in 1993 and again with AC Milan in 1994, becoming one of the few players to win consecutive European Cups with different clubs. He later captained Chelsea in the Premier League.
