Markus Winkelhock is a German racing driver whose single Formula One start came for Spyker at the rain-disrupted 2007 European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Running on extreme wet tyres as a downpour struck, he briefly led the race—marking the only laps Spyker led in Formula One—before retiring with a hydraulic fault. He is the son of Manfred Winkelhock, a Formula One driver killed in a 1985 sportscar crash, and the nephew of driver Joachim Winkelhock. Markus Winkelhock later built a career in GT and sportscar racing.
