Mars 6

description Mars 6 Overview

Mars 6 was a Soviet robotic mission to Mars launched in 1973 and consisting of a spacecraft and a lander. The lander entered the Martian atmosphere and transmitted scientific measurements during its descent, including information about atmospheric conditions. Contact was lost before the surface mission could be completed, so Mars 6 is remembered chiefly for its partial descent data rather than a confirmed long-term surface operation.
