Max Bruch (1838–1920) was a German Romantic composer, conductor, and teacher. His most recognized work is the Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26, which remains a staple of the standard violin repertoire alongside his "Scottish Fantasy" for violin and orchestra.

In addition to his orchestral works, Bruch composed significant choral pieces, including "Kol Nidrei," based on Hebrew melodies. He held teaching positions at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, where he influenced later generations of musicians.
