AMG stands for Aufrecht, Melcher, and Großaspach, the names of the founders and the hometown of the performance division. Mercedes-AMG models feature hand-built engines, upgraded suspension components, and sport-tuned exhaust systems compared to standard Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and AMG has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz since 2005.

Mercedes-EQ is the electric vehicle sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz, launched to compete with Tesla and BMW's i series. Production EQ models include the EQS sedan, EQE, and EQB SUVs, built on dedicated electric platforms, though Mercedes has announced plans to consolidate the EQ naming convention back into the main lineup in the coming years.

Mercedes-Benz is the core brand of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, formerly known as Daimler AG, which was renamed in a 2022 restructuring. The company is publicly traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MBG and is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the flagship full-size luxury sedan, with the current generation being the W223 introduced for the 2021 model year. The ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach S-Class versions extend the platform with even more premium features, competing directly with the Bentley Flying Spur.
