Serving as the direct literary sequel to Metro 2033, the narrative follows the interconnected lives of survivors within the ruins of the Moscow Metro system following a nuclear holocaust. The story largely focuses on a teenager named Sasha, an old chronicler named Homer, and the returning Ranger Hunter. While it loosely inspired the video game Metro: Last Light, the novel features a distinct, more psychological plot.
