Are all Microsoft FreeCell deals solvable?
Nearly all of the original 32,000 numbered Microsoft deals are solvable, but deal 11982 is the famous exception. Later Windows versions expanded the available deal numbers far beyond that original set.
Why are the four free cells so important?
Each free cell temporarily holds one card, allowing buried cards to be exposed and sequences to be rearranged. Empty tableau columns also increase mobility, so filling all four cells too early can make an otherwise manageable deal fail.
When did FreeCell become part of Windows?
