description Millennium Dome (The O2) Overview

The Millennium Dome is a large tensioned-fabric structure on the Greenwich Peninsula in London, England, designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership and completed in 1999 to house the Millennium Experience exhibition celebrating the year 2000. The dome's canopy is supported by twelve yellow steel masts reaching 100 metres in height and covers approximately 80,000 square metres of enclosed floor space, making it one of the largest membrane structures in the world. Following the exhibition's closure, the building was redeveloped into The O2 entertainment complex, incorporating a 20,000-capacity indoor arena operated by AEG alongside restaurants, a cinema, and exhibition spaces.
