Miss Piggy

Frank Oz voiced and operated Miss Piggy from her early appearances in the 1970s until his eventual retirement from the character. He completely defined her demanding personality, French catchphrases, and famous karate chops. Eric Jacobson officially took over the primary puppetry duties in the early 2000s.

Miss Piggy actually made her first television appearance in 1974 on a Herb Alpert television special before gaining widespread fame on The Muppet Show in 1976. She started as a minor chorus pig but quickly became a breakout star. Her popularity was largely solidified by her romantic pursuit of Kermit the Frog.

Her most famous catchphrase is the French exclamation "Kissy kissy!" alongside her habit of referring to herself as "Moi." She is also heavily associated with sudden, loud outbursts of "Hiiii-yah!" when delivering her signature karate chop to anyone who annoys her. These mannerisms cemented her status as a pop culture icon.

They famously staged a wedding in the 1984 film "The Muppets Take Manhattan," though the creators later stated it was just a movie scene and the characters play themselves. In 2015, the duo publicly announced their separation during promotional events for the ABC mockumentary series "The Muppets." Their relationship status has always been a playful media event.
