Mount Melleray Abbey is a monastery near Cappoquin in County Waterford, Ireland, belonging to the Cistercians of the Strict Observance, commonly called Trappists. It was founded in 1832 by monks from Melleray Abbey in France who had been displaced following the July Revolution. The community follows a contemplative Christian monastic life organized around communal prayer, manual work, spiritual reading, and hospitality.
