Its highest summit is Fan Brycheiniog, at 802 metres, while Bannau Sir Gaer forms a prominent escarpment above the glacial lakes of Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr. The area is used by hikers and is known for broad ridges, steep escarpments, and glacial landforms.
