The Narmada is a river in central India that flows west for about 1,312 kilometres before entering the Arabian Sea through the Gulf of Khambhat. It rises near Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh and runs between the Vindhya and Satpura ranges, forming a major drainage corridor across the Indian peninsula. The river has religious significance in Hindu traditions and is also associated with large water infrastructure projects, including dams and irrigation schemes.
