The Nemo Dagger Osmo 2P has a packed weight of approximately 3 pounds 11 ounces (1.67 kg) including the tent body, rainfly, and poles. This positions it as a crossover between ultralight and lightweight backpacking tents. Using the rainfly-only pitch with a footprint can reduce the carried weight further for thru-hikers.

Osmo is Nemo's proprietary fabric blend made from recycled polyester and nylon with a high-tenacity construction. Unlike traditional silicone-coated nylon, Osmo fabric does not sag or stretch when wet, meaning the rainfly maintains a taut pitch during rainstorms without needing to be re-tensioned. It also has better UV resistance and dries faster than standard tent fabrics.

The Nemo Dagger Osmo 2P and the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 are both popular two-person backpacking tents, but the Copper Spur is lighter at around 2 pounds 12 ounces while the Dagger offers more interior volume and vertical sidewalls for livability. The Dagger Osmo's fabric resists sagging in wet conditions, an issue that some Copper Spur users report with its nylon rainfly. The Dagger also has larger doors and more headroom, making it a better choice for taller backpackers.

The Nemo Dagger Osmo 2P does not include a footprint in the standard package; it is sold separately. Nemo sells a matching fitted footprint that pairs with the tent for a fast-pitch (rainfly-only) setup. Some backpackers use aftermarket polycro or Tyvek ground cloths as lighter and cheaper alternatives to the official footprint.
