Neumann KH 310 A

Unlike standard two-way monitors that use a single woofer and tweeter, the KH 310 A features a dedicated mid-range driver to handle the critical vocal frequencies. This three-way design, combined with a titanium dome tweeter, provides incredibly detailed and phase-accurate audio reproduction. It is specifically engineered to reveal subtle imperfections in a mix.

While they are among the best speakers available, the KH 310 A monitors are often overkill for a standard home studio, primarily due to their high cost and large physical size. They require a properly acoustically treated room to perform accurately; otherwise, their low-frequency response can be compromised. They are primarily found in elite commercial mastering and recording facilities.

Neumann utilizes Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) technology in the KH 310 A to ensure that the sound waves radiate evenly across the listening area. This allows engineers to hear a consistent frequency response even if they move slightly off-axis from the sweet spot. It results in a remarkably wide and stable stereo image.

The monitors are manufactured by Neumann.Berlin, the legendary German audio engineering company historically famous for its high-end condenser microphones. Neumann expanded into the studio monitor market after acquiring Klein + Hummel, another German audio manufacturer. The KH series is a direct continuation of the prestigious Klein + Hummel line.
