NGC 6888, known as the Crescent Nebula, is an emission nebula located approximately 5,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. It was formed by the powerful stellar winds of the Wolf-Rayet star WR 136 interacting with material the star previously ejected during its red giant phase. The nebula was discovered by William Herschel in 1792 and has an estimated apparent magnitude of 7.4.
