Norman K. Denzin was an American sociologist associated with symbolic interactionism, interpretive sociology, and qualitative research. He developed influential approaches to interpreting lived experience, personal narratives, media, and performance, and wrote about the use of multiple methods and perspectives in social inquiry. He also co-edited successive editions of the Handbook of Qualitative Research, first published in 1994.
