Ochansk

description Ochansk Overview

Ochansk is an H4 ordinary chondrite that fell in the Perm region of Russia in 1887. The fall produced a large quantity of material, with a reported total mass approaching 500 kilograms, making it a substantial documented H-chondrite shower. Its type 4 classification indicates that its original chondrules remain recognizable even though the rock experienced enough thermal metamorphism on its parent asteroid to modify their minerals and textures.

insights Ranking position

Ochansk ranks #140 of 213 in the Meteorite ranking, behind Cranbourne, ahead of Admire.
