How are the Oobi puppets made?
Oobi, Uma, Kako and Grampu are performed with bare hands fitted with acrylic eyes and simple accessories. Unlike conventional puppets, the performers' fingers become the characters' mouths and facial movements.
Who are Uma, Kako and Grampu in Oobi?
Uma is Oobi's younger sister, Kako is his best friend and Grampu is the siblings' grandfather and caregiver. Most stories follow the children learning through ordinary activities at home or around their neighborhood.
Why are some Oobi episodes only about two minutes long?
Oobi began on Noggin as a collection of roughly two-minute interstitial shorts. Later stories expanded to about 13 minutes and included more developed plots, music and conversations with real families.
Is Oobi connected to Sesame Street?
It is not a Sesame Street production, but creator Josh Selig previously wrote and performed for Sesame Street. His company, Little Airplane Productions, made Oobi for Noggin.
