help PaRappa the Rapper FAQ

Why does PaRappa keep saying that he has to believe?

Belief is PaRappa's recurring response when he faces a problem, whether he is learning karate, taking a driving test, or trying to impress Sunny Funny. The phrase also expresses the rhythm game's central mechanic: copy the teacher's pattern confidently enough to pass each lesson.

Who teaches the first rap lesson?

Chop Chop Master Onion teaches PaRappa karate in the opening stage using the famous Kick, Punch rap. Later instructors include Mooselini, Prince Fleaswallow, and Cheap Cheap the Cooking Chicken.

What do U rappin' BAD, GOOD, and COOL mean?

The rating reflects how accurately and creatively the player performs each call-and-response phrase. Reaching COOL allows freer improvisation without the teacher leading every line, while dropping too far below GOOD can fail the stage.

What is the connection between PaRappa and Um Jammer Lammy?

Um Jammer Lammy is a rhythm-game spin-off from NanaOn-Sha starring guitarist Lammy in the same colorful world. PaRappa appears in it, and its alternate PaRappa mode adapts Lammy's stages into rap performances.
