Paris Commune

description Paris Commune Overview

The Paris Commune was a revolutionary municipal government that controlled Paris from 18 March until 28 May 1871, after France's defeat in the Franco-Prussian War and the collapse of the Second Empire. Its elected council included socialists, republicans, anarchists, and labor activists, and introduced measures concerning rents, workplaces, education, and the relationship between church and state.
