description Passing Through Overview

Passing Through is a 1977 independent American drama directed by Larry Clark. The film is centered on jazz musicians and the artistic and social pressures surrounding their work, and it features a score by jazz pianist and composer Horace Tapscott. It belongs to the body of Black independent cinema made outside the major-studio system during the 1970s. The film is also notable for its later recognition by the Library of Congress, which added it to the National Film Registry in 2023.
