Pataudi Trophy

The Pataudi Trophy is awarded to the winner of the men's Test series played between England and India in England. It is only contested when the Indian cricket team tours England for a Test series. The trophy was originally instituted in 2007 to coincide with India's tour of England that year.

The trophy honors the Pataudi family dynasty, specifically Iftikhar Ali Khan and his son Mansoor Ali Khan. Both men famously captained the Indian cricket team during their respective eras. Iftikhar Ali Khan also holds the unique distinction of having played Test cricket for both England and India.

If the Test series between England and India ends in a draw, the trophy is shared by both teams. However, if the series is tied, the team holding the trophy from the previous series retains it. The physical trophy is then held by the winning cricket board until the next England-based series.

Since its institution in 2007, England has historically dominated the Pataudi Trophy on their home soil. The English team has successfully won the trophy multiple times, including dominant 4-0 and 3-1 series victories in 2011 and 2018. India's last Pataudi Trophy win during this period occurred during their 2007 tour.
