Pelplin Abbey

Pelplin Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery located in the town of Pelplin in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of northern Poland. It was founded in 1274 by Cistercian monks who relocated there from the region of Sulejów. The site is beautifully situated along the banks of the Wda River.

This rare artifact makes the site a major destination for historians and bibliophiles.

The abbey was founded in 1274 by Cistercian monks from the Doberan Abbey in Mecklenburg, under the patronage of Sambor II, the Duke of Pomerania. The monks brought advanced agricultural techniques to the surrounding region, developing it into a thriving economic center. They remained at the site until the monastery was dissolved by the Prussian government in the 19th century.
