Personal Values

description Personal Values Overview

Personal Values is a 1952 oil painting by Belgian Surrealist René Magritte, also known by its French title, Les Valeurs personnelles. It places greatly enlarged everyday objects, including a comb, shaving brush, match, glass, and bar of soap, inside a furnished bedroom whose walls resemble a cloud-filled sky. The altered scale and unexpected setting turn familiar possessions into imposing, visually ambiguous forms.
