description Petőfi Bridge Overview

Petőfi Bridge is a road and tram bridge across the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It connects Boráros tér on the Pest side with the southern Buda riverbank near Goldmann György tér. The bridge opened to traffic in 1937 under the name Horthy Miklós Bridge and was renamed after the poet Sándor Petőfi after World War II. Its structure was destroyed during the war and rebuilt before reopening in 1952.
