The most notable group to emerge from the show is Forestella, who won the second season and have since released multiple albums and held solo concerts in South Korea. Other crossover groups formed through the program have also maintained active performing careers in the Korean classical crossover scene.

Unlike mainstream K-pop audition programs or general singing competitions, Phantom Singer exclusively focuses on classical crossover music and evaluates contestants on their ability to blend into vocal ensembles rather than solo star power. The show, produced by CJ ENM and premiering in 2016, also restructures contestants into groups throughout the competition, adding a unique team-formation dynamic.
