Ping G400 Driver

Released in 2017, the Ping G400 driver introduced a forged face construction that was thinner and more flexible than the older Ping G, resulting in faster ball speeds across a larger area. It also utilized "Dragonfly" technology in the crown, which saved weight to lower the center of gravity and improve aerodynamics.

Even years after its release, the Ping G400 is still widely considered one of the most forgiving and consistent drivers Ping has ever made, often rivaling newer models in performance. Many amateur and professional golfers still keep it in their bags because the combination of the Dragonfly crown and the high MOI (Moment of Inertia) provides exceptional stability on mishits.

Dragonfly Technology refers to the ultra-thin, complex exoskeleton design on the crown of the G400 driver, inspired by the wings of a dragonfly. By thinning out the titanium in the crown, Ping was able to save roughly 8 grams of weight, which was then repositioned lower and deeper in the clubhead to increase forgiveness and lower spin.

High handicappers generally benefit from the Ping G400 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) model, which features a heavier tungsten weight in the heel of the clubhead to help square the face and reduce slices. The standard G400 is also very forgiving, but the SFT version is specifically engineered to fix the common right-miss (for right-handed players) of slower swing speeds.
