Pinky Lee

Pinky Lee, born Pincus Leff (1907-1993), was an American comedian who began his career in burlesque and vaudeville circuits before transitioning to television. He hosted The Pinky Lee Show, a children's television program that aired on NBC from 1950 to 1955, featuring his characteristic high-energy physical comedy, checkered shirts, and a distinctive laugh. Lee's performance style drew directly from his burlesque training, incorporating slapstick humor and audience participation that made him one of the most recognizable children's entertainers of early television, before his career was temporarily interrupted by a serious health incident during a live broadcast in 1955.
