Planctoteuthis lippula is a deep-water squid species in the family Chiroteuthidae, within the genus Planctoteuthis. The genus is recorded from lower mesopelagic to bathypelagic waters in tropical and temperate oceans, and its members have fragile, gelatinous bodies, elongated necks, large eyes, and long arms or tentacles. The species was described by Carl Chun in 1908 and has also been treated under the earlier name Doratopsis lippula.
