Promethea

The series was written by legendary comics author Alan Moore and featured stunning, intricate artwork by J.H. Williams III. It was originally published in 1999 as a flagship title under Moore's America's Best Comics imprint, distributed through WildStorm.

The comic blends traditional superhero elements with deep, academic explorations of occultism, Western mysticism, and the teachings of Aleister Crowley. It literally uses the comic book medium to guide the reader through the concept of the Tarot and the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.

Williams designed incredibly intricate, non-traditional panel structures that often flowed organically across the page, resembling mandalas or sacred geometry. His artistic choices were specifically tailored to reflect the magical and spiritual concepts discussed in Alan Moore's script.
